Welcome to Wynyard Elementary School
Welcome to our vibrant Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 6 learning community. Located in the heart of Saskatchewan—about 190 km east of Saskatoon—our school is proud to be a close-knit community of 231 students and 35 dedicated staff members. Together, we create a supportive environment where students feel valued, respected, and inspired to learn. Through strong relationships, innovative teaching, and a commitment to student success, we strive to help every child grow, achieve, and thrive.
Our Mission & Values
At Wynyard Elementary School, we embrace the motto “Learning for Life.” This philosophy guides everything we do and is reflected in our daily learning, relationships, and school culture. Through our “Be a Bear Cub” Initiative, students are encouraged to reflect on their choices and behavior by considering whether they are in the green, yellow, or red zone. This approach helps students build self-awareness, make positive decisions, and take responsibility for their actions as they grow both academically and personally.
Academic Excellence & Diverse Programming
We provide high-quality academic programming aligned with the provincial curriculum, with a strong focus on literacy, safe and caring schools, and meaningful assessment practices. Through a collaborative team approach, we support students with diverse and intensive learning needs by providing responsive and individualized programming, including targeted Levelled Literacy instruction.
- Early Learning: We offer Pre-Kindergarten programming for 3- and 4-year-olds (by referral/application) to provide our youngest learners with a strong start in their educational journey.
- Assessment: To better understand and support student learning, we use a variety of trusted assessment tools, including the Ages and Stages Questionnaire, Early Years Evaluation, Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System, Heggerty Phonological Awareness Assessment, Provincial Math Assessments, and the OurSchool Survey. These tools help guide instruction and ensure every student is supported in reaching their full potential.

Modern Facilities & Community Partnerships
Our school is a modern, well-equipped facility that supports a wide range of learning opportunities. The building includes a gymnasium, resource centre, kitchen, and multiple mobile Chromebook carts to support technology-rich instruction. We are also excited about the completion of our new outdoor learning space in Spring 2026, which will provide additional opportunities for hands-on and nature-based learning. Wynyard Elementary is proud to be deeply connected to the community, and we are fortunate to benefit from strong partnerships such as:
- Town of Wynyard: Providing access to the local skating rink, curling rink, and swimming pool.
- Golden Acres: Our "Adopted Grandparent" program.
- Local Services: Strong ties with the Wynyard RCMP, Wee Care Preschool, and Wynyardigans Day Care.
- School Community Council (SCC): An enthusiastic group of parents and community members who act as vital advocates for our students.
